Nigerian and sub-Saharan African football fans can expect complete coverage of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar thanks to Showmax Pro’s commitment to live-broadcast all 64 games.

A first for Africa’s domestic streaming service, the coverage will be broadcast in 4K to SuperSport’s customers across sub-Saharan Africa.

At the FIFA World Cup Qatar, which runs from November 20, 2022, to December 18, the current world champions, France, will defend their title.

The FIFA World Cup is being held for the first time in the Arab world this year. Africa will be represented by Cameroon, Ghana, Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia.

Yolisa Phahle, Chief Executive Officer of Connected Video at MultiChoice, described what to anticipate by saying: “We created Showmax Pro with our football-loving continent in mind. The lowest data streaming option on the continent was developed by us, the first streaming service in Africa to provide mobile downloads for offline watching.

“As the world’s largest sporting event approaches, we are excited to offer 4K for the first time at the FIFA World Cup Qatar. This event deserves to be experienced in the highest quality possible. Double the typical 25 frames per second (fps) we presently give, the 4K feed will feature up to 50 fps, according to Phahle.

The 4K resolution for ultra-high definition screens is 3840 by 2160 pixels. Every minute of every match will be seen in exquisite detail since the majority of 4K devices contain around 8 million pixels.

Phahle claims that in addition to the new 4K and High Definition (HD) choices, viewers in Africa may also pick from Low, Data Saving, and Max Data Saving modes, which utilize just 300MB, 100MB, and 50MB per hour, respectively, to choose the data streaming option that best meets their needs.

“The FIFA World Cup Qatar is just 39 days away. Subscribers to the Showmax Pro plan may register up to five devices, including smart TVs, media boxes, and mobile phones, and stream concurrently on two of them. Additionally, viewers may watch on a single mobile device with Showmax Pro’s mobile-only service.

“How you consume matches while viewing live sports vs a specialized television channel is one of the fundamental distinctions.
